Coming through on the ever-reliable Fabric offshoot Houndstooth, Marquis Hawkes returns to the sound that he first gained traction for - skeletal, bare-bones house rhythms fit for the kind of herculean sessions of hedonism he so often provides the soundtrack to. Breaking the gates open with the title track, we’re treated to 7 minutes of a chewy, primitive house rattle. It’s followed up by Ave That- an aptly titled come-and-get-it anthem with a real kinetic force behind its authentic raw kicks. This trio of treasures is rounded off with Jerk U Later where we find Hawkes at his back-to-basics analogue best.
