South London’s Deadboy lands on Bristol label Crazylegs with a beautiful beatless ballad. Having released such wonderful garage and house pieces as his landmark edit of Drake’s Fireworks, ‘If You Want Me’, or also last year’s Return EP for Numbers, his position as a skilful producer seems difficult to defend – but ‘It Did Not Feel Right’ speaks for itself. It combines the pitched-up, corny-gone-poignant R’n’B vocals of his earlier releases with the floating, shimmering chords and atmospheric sounds of his recent works.
