He lives! Very much alive and kicking, Deadboy drops the full-length LP that many have been waiting a good half-decade for by this point. And what’s more, his singing is all over it. Earth Body is as cold and stark as the Montreal winter it was recorded in. Tracks like ‘Caballero’ and ‘Tide’ turn the formula that made Deadboy’s name - namely repurposing 90s r&b acapellas for the post-dubstep dancefloor - on its head, with wonky beat patterning now underpinning vocals from the man himself. Indeed, the manner in which Deadboy sands down the rougher edges of his sound to better accommodate his voice recalls Arca’s recent self-titled LP as well as obvious touchstones like James Blake and Mount Kimbie. Out via the ever-excellent Local Action (Finn, Slackk, DJ Q).
