Hivern Discs present the latest in a string of top notch releases with a 12” EP from Macedonian DJ and producer Herzel. The main event on this one is ‘Daydreamer’, a real minimalist classic that takes a handful of simple elements and juggles them to killer effect – you just know this one’s going to get better and better as the decibels climb. Palms Trax pays homage with two solid reworks – the ‘Backroom Office Tool’ version adding some funky light percussion, while the ‘Nothing But A Dreamer’ mix gets heavy with the synths for a sun-drenched acid jazz workout. On the flip, ‘Closure’ employs restless, itchy drums and lingering pads, while ‘Shades’ eases off on the beat for a laid-back Shackleton-esque jam.
