Led by enigmatic vocalist and frontman Baba Commandant, the Mandingo Band create a sound that is stooped in the rich musical heritage of Burkina culture. Drawing more influence from artists like Fela Kuti and Nigerian musical movements, Juguya is an extremely modern sounding LP utilising the practices of more dated scenes. From the runaway backing vocals of the title track to the seemingly punk-inspired guitar section of Folon, this record is a glimpse of a far removed culture with flavours from all across the world.
