Following his excellent debut Margosa Heights EP and the equally stunning Shaman Champagne release, Al Tourettes readies his debut full-length release as Second Storey in partnership with London’s Houndstooth imprint. The LP entitled Double Divide draws on Tourettes’ bass heavy routes and entangles them with a distinct psychedelic aura. The producers’ trademark rolling rhythms underpin the scratching ‘Reserved’ followed by the chunky, industrial tremors of ‘Shaman Champagne’. ‘One Sound’ draws on an early UK electronica sound with its drifting ambient glace clashing with squiggled glitches whereas ‘Devotion Notion’ hawks back to brutal rhythm paired against heady interference. Finally, the piece wraps up with some glassy synth work on ‘Chordelia’ where the layers of melody balance each other to form a potent tonic.
