Twenty-five years deep in the game, XL rightly celebrates its ongoing success with this retrospective. From the early days of SL2 to the all-conquering global smash that is Adele, it's all here on this double-CD, quadruple-vinyl set. The heady rave of The Prodigy's 'Out of Space' (from which the title of this collection is taken) sits alongside Liquid's sultry 'Sweet Harmony'; Dizzee Rascal's exuberance on 'I Luv U' is matched by the wild carnival of Basement Jaxx's 'Jump N’Shout'. The second disc contains a clutch of world-beaters, unmistakeable anthems like 'Seven Nation Army' (The White Stripes), 'Rolling In The Deep' (Adele) and 'Paper Planes' (M.I.A.), tracks that soundtrack films and personal moments across the globe. Labels as wildly varied and successful as this deserve all the plaudits they get, so here's to 25 more years of XL.
