London producer Josh Quirke is the latest signing to the Young Turks label, and his debut EP is a genre traversing excursion that marks him both as a talent to watch and someone difficult to pigeonhole. 'We Landed' opens the release dreamily, velvet pads and a faraway voice incased in icy electronic swirls. 'Break A Mirrored Leg' is a lot tougher in sound, bruising chords that never quite settle, whipped up into a frenetically pulsing track. Title track 'Acid Beth' meanwhile is a modern classical inspired piano-meets-noise piece, while final track 'There's A Half Moon In Your Mouth' is as beguiling as its title, an immersive, mechanical rhythm made strange. It's an attention grabbing release.
