Tredici Bacci is the Boston-based 14-piece ensemble led by Guerilla Toss bass player Simon Hanes. Here they delve enchantingly into the world of 60s and 70s Italian cinema with The Thirteen Kisses EP on NNA Tapes. Leading off with the luxurious ‘Carina Botto’, an effortlessly cool array of balanced instrumentation builds a lounge style, jazz-fusion groove with constant swings in speed and mood. Next, ‘Mood’ is a slower, sultrier affair with strings and horns perfectly correlated whereas ‘Ragazzi’ picks up the pace with its chirpy melodies and vocals evoking the imagery of a swinging Rome city scene.
