UK producer Enchante arrives on the Top Nice imprint with Rolling Helix, a collection of atmospheric, home-spun techno bolstered by a remix from Silverlink. All four tracks roll with straight-up techno grooves, which keep time effectively and engage the body while the producer shows real ingenuity in his use of unusual melodic and textural elements. ‘Pattern 9 (Free At Last)’ and ‘Pattern 3 (Gunman)’ make use of strange warbling synth lines reminiscent of Delia Derbyshire, while ‘Pattern 15 (Bell)’ uses simple analogue synthesiser sounds to evoke a beautifully nostalgic atmosphere.
