A delicious primer here for Duston O’Halloran and Adam Byranbaum Wiltzie’s second LP ‘Atomos’, which offers the same melancholy instrumental landscapes as their 2011 debut - though this time even more sullen and war-torn (somehow they’ve managed it). ‘Atomos VII’ began life as a score for a dance piece by Wayne McGregor, better known as choreographer to Radiohead and Thom Yorke’s side project Atoms for Peace. While it’s hard to imagine it setting the club floor alight this eight-minute mix of icy drones, choral surges and powerful, Jóhan Jóhannsson bursts of strings will definitely get a performance group pulling strange shapes.
