Canadian producer Christopher Bissonnette releases his third album. For the making of Essays In Idleness, Bissonnette narrowed his sounds down to those made using a self-built synthesizer, and these constrictions placed upon his methodology have produced a startling album, contained and graceful, built from glimmering tones and interlocking drones that spiral out to produce moments of enigmatic stillness and transcendence. 'A Deplorable Corruption' is visceral music made from simple but precisely considered hisses of noise, while a track like 'Missing Chapters' proves Bissonnette a master of creating a world of moods and textures that is entirely his own.
