Athens-based aural archaeologist Jar Moff returns to Pan Records with another crucial long player. Much like debut Commercial Mouth, Financial Glam features two 20+ minute sound sculptures that are as harrowing to listen to as they are enjoyable. Roman galley-like drums carry ‘Kresentosiagona’ into a disorienting fog packed with screaming Lovecraft-ian horrors, tribal percussion and nightmarish electronics. The devastating title track sounds like a death jazz combo complete with squealing sax being sucked up into a tornado and ripped to shreds in slow motion. Those moments offer much needed relief from this shocking, utterly essential listening experience.
