Valerie Martino is back with a new release as Unicorn Hard-On for Spectrum Spools. It an album of scraping electronics and heavy-hitting rhythms, tracks kicking out and worming their way into a listener's brain with insistence. Off-kilter modulations and brain-melting, cyborg, synthesizer action that nonetheless retains and certain melodic quality, making this an engaging as well as abrasive album.
