Bleep

This second album from chart-conquering electropoppers When Saints Go Machine shows why EMI once lapped up their smoky, falsetto soul/pop sound. ‘Love and Respect’ features rapper Killer Mike, who drawls and mumbles over fuzzy keyboards and a clattering hip-hop rhythm. At the other end of the spectrum is ‘Mental Shopping Spree’, which needs only a click track, ice cream sirens and vocals like Sade after an evening on helium. Danish commercial pop doesn’t often sound as sophisticated as this.
