Two leading lights of Japan’s rich techno movement join forces once again for a split single on legendary London club fabric’s label to kick off their 25th anniversary celebration. DJ Nobu heads straight for the heart on his entry ‘Flares’, plotting a ringing, centrifugal synth melody around jackhammer kicks to dizzying effect, while Wata Igarashi’s ‘泡 (Abuku)’ glides along a springy and trippy technicolour beat with oscillating synths and groovy kicks and rims. Both tracks could move bodies on the floor or minds at home with ease.
