London singer/songwriter Cleo Sol follows up the surprise-released Heaven LP from earlier in September by playing that very same card with the surprise release of Gold for Forever Living Originals. Much like its predecessor, Gold stakes a lovely claim somewhere between classicist neo-soul and the modernist R&B tastes of the shadowy production team SAULT who once again team up behind the boards. Despite the short distance between them, Gold stands mightily on its own accord, showcasing Sol at her show stopping best on tracks like the sparse ‘Things Will Get Better’ and the soothingly sensual ‘Desire’.
