The piano has long been one of the most powerful and culture-defining instruments in the Western music canon, and with ‘Eno Piano’, Bruce Brubaker seeks to reinvent it once more. Reinterpreting ambient compositions from Brian Eno, Brubaker raises the grand piano’s profile to that of a synthesiser or even a whole studio, creating fragile, atmospheric pieces from keys and drones. ‘Music For Airports’ is rendered with organ-like elongated glassy tones, lilting and lingering in soft negative space, while tracks like ‘By This River’ highlight the emotional textures reverberating with each note.
