London rave don Scuba is back on his own Hotflush imprint with the sequel to spring’s vinyl-only Hardcore Heaven EP. Billed almost identically as “6 more tracks of post-hardcore breakbeat euphoria”, Hardcore Heaven II does once again find the London man somewhere between the bubbly effervesce of classic hardcore rave and the low-frequency attack of jungle. Tracks like ‘Feel The Same’ bode well and move quickly, providing a clear proof of concept, but it’s the beguiling closer ‘Frenchie’ and its stutter-step pulse that steals the show here, a marvelous swinging tune that could trip up a dancefloor in the best way.
