Now a Stones Throw artist in her own right, Sofie Royer got her start on the other side of the industry working in development for places like Boiler Room while also DJing an early, beloved slot on NTS Radio. The original SOS Tape from 2016 was an extension of that work: a love letter to the left field sound Royer was tapping into at NTS and also helping usher in at Stones Throw as an A&R. Artists like Mndsgn, Jonwayne, and Stimulator Jones would go on to define a new era at the label, while headier cuts point towards influences she would pursue under her own name.
