LA’s Stones Throw further explore offbeat territory with a new full-length from local multi-group The Lion. Comprised of about a dozen Los Angeles reggae musicians including members from ska outlet Hepcat, they formed in 2007, and Stones Throw has been their label home for the past couple of years now. More than ever, their feel-good tunes place an emphasis on emotions. Soul Train’s lyrics raise issues of political frustration, but the laid-back unaccented beats and their soulful wind and organ instruments suggest we let the music help us deal with them and dance - conveying serenity Jamaican style.
