Quakers show that what seems to be a dream production team one-off is surely an instrumental hip-hop institution in waiting. Supa K (aka long-standing Stones Throw Records affiliate Ashley Anderson, fka Katalyst) spearheads this particular LP from the ever-expanding collective — as Fuzzface (Portishead’s Geoff Barrow) and 7stu7 (engineer and Invada Records’ in-house producer) stay on overwatch duties — offering up a 50-track beat trove in the vein of Dilla, Madlib and Knxwledge. This is to say, Supa K: Heavy Tremors is maniacally swaggering and effortlessly cool, and features a perfectly complementary vibe for any LP by a certain rap supervillain we can think of.
