On their Rhythm Section International full length, London-based Vels Trio collect the sonics developed through their handful of singles and EPs into a cohesive body of Kosmische influenced Jazztronica. Having honed their skills playing with Poppy Ajudha, Emma Jean- Thackray and Puma Blue respectively, the trio of Jack Stephenson-Oliver (keys) Dougal Taylor (drums) and Cameron Dawson (bass) naturally bring their skilled musicianship to the fore, without ever relegating the record to a display of session virtuosity. Instead, the tracks are given room to breathe, with the focus on suggestive synth-led atmospheres while more intense, impressionistic playing on ‘McEnroe’ and 'The Winter Games’ being is approached with tasteful restraint.
