Karl ‘Regis’ O’Connor found a kind of creative-psycho-geographical perfection with the ancient stones of Greece’s Epidaurus auditorium, such that a live recording simply had to be made. Recorded back in 2019 and immortalised onto film by Vasileios Trigkas, there’s gorgeous poetry to the way Regis’ improvised noise and industrial techno programming resonates in the space, each barbed drone ripping open an atavistic wormhole much in the way of Sunn O))), if they were produced by Burial — particularly with the bassy, demonic vocal of ‘Calling Down a Curse’. The titanic ‘Epidaurus’ neatly summarises the uncanny experience, each creaking guitar scrape seemingly etching itself into the brickwork with the force of a chisel.
