Put simply, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is the album Little Simz has been building towards ever since she started out. Just listen to the blaring horns, sweeping strings and heightened operatic tenor on lead single ‘Introvert’; it’s hard not to read her every cerebral line as parts of a political treatise, and not just an exploration of fame, insecurity, responsibility and personal history. A quantum leap forward from 2019’s Grey Area, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is destined to be a modern classic of UK hip-hop, a striking realisation of what the genre can do — particularly when there’s an accomplished navigator at the helm.
