Anyone might call Bristolian producer Pessimist one of the busiest and most prolific deck-masters out there, and this disc is testimony to that fact. He teams up with fellow hardware obsessive Holsten for a grimy take on dark drum n bass bangerism. ‘The Riot Tune’ comes in three flavours. The first is a dub-inflected number laden with a menacing jungle beat; the second sees a hard focus on tubular snares and an upped low end; while the third amps up the flaying bass for a vintage dubstep feel. All in all, this release celebrates the most sacred of things: a stellar beat.
