Voitax favourite Cressida returns to the imprint for more innovative electronica in the shape of Sambo. The Berlin-based producer can’t shake off the overarching influence of his UK birthplace, morphing DnB and jungle rhythms into monstrous sonic chimeras with the industrially-textured ‘Al Gore Riddim’ and ‘Move To The Witness’. A sturdy understanding of the importance of swinging bass and audio space is carried through the comparatively minimal grooves of ‘Breaking Parallel’ and ‘Rapunzel’, the latter delving into a skittering and menacing tangle of overlapping sampled dialogue before opening up with vibrant pads and a sharp lead.
