Trumpeter and drummer duo Anteloper bridge woozy psychedelic electronics with propulsive freeform funk on Tour Beats Vol. 1. Following up their 2018 breakout Kudu, Anteloper deliver an even stranger set of unique compositions designed to trawl the great sonic unknown. The trumpet of ‘Bubble Under’ is heavily soaked in acid-coloured FX to match the ever-changing rhythm of its electro-acoustic beat, while ‘Isotope 420’ trades a driven beat for heady abstraction. Elements of radio-static found sound characterise ‘RADAR radio’, as ‘Soledad Saboteur’ trudges a hazily funereal dirge underneath twinkling keys. The spirit of 1970s Miles Davis moves strongly throughout this one.
