Raw Basics kick off their own imprint under the Basic Rhythm moniker with a set of rave tunes in the key of its golden era, albeit with a menacing twist. Raw Basics Vol. 1 kicks off with the clipped vocal samples, shrill synths and warbling bass tones of ‘Break It Down (VIP)’, building before dropping into an electro-soaked abyss. Meanwhile, coconspirator Parris drops in for a stomping remix of Basic Rhythm’s ‘Feel Me’, digitising heavy percussion for an off-kilter effect.
