Philou Louzolo continues to expand his vision of modern techno Afrofuturism with the new EP Ahosi Army. Released, like 2019’s Shinobi Of Wokoundou, via his own Wokoundou imprint, the pair of Louzolo originals here, Ahosi Army’s title-track and ‘Samarou Strikes Again’, are driving polyrhythmic club workouts of the sort that one associates with labels like Black Acre and Banana Hill. Two remixes of ‘Ahosi Army’ make up the B-side - Violet’s flip warps and bends in the spirit of Louzolo’s original while Alma Negra stretches the track out into a deep, dub-inflected tech-house joint.
