There is great depth to Cathexis Sessions Vol. 1 which means that, even as the steady beats make you move, you often find yourself caught in thought as they play. This vibe is heightened still further when the drums take a backseat, as they do on ‘Don’t Wanna Wait’ and ‘B St. Blues’. Think a more ghostly take on the likes of Russell E. L. Butler and you’re in the right ballpark for Cathexis Sessions Vol. 1.
