Don’t be fooled though; hooks still ring out in the vocalist’s inimitable style on ‘Hardest To Love’ and ‘Snowchild’, beset by glimmering, 1980s-inspired production. Nevertheless, a spiked, state of the nation dystopianism shines through here in some of The Weeknd’s most scathing lyrical work.
