Long-running producer Eluvium aka Matthew Cooper neatly kicks off a series of ambient music with Virga I. Across three mammoth pieces of reality-draining mood, Virga I finds Eluvium’s uncanny sense for producing heavenly sounds working overtime using generative software and long-format looping, bridging seemingly impossible gaps between depth and minimalism. The LP is at once a soothing bath of glorious noise and a haunting portrait of celestial remoteness.
