It seems it's annual now that Ricardo Villalobos brings out a 4 track LP that sums up the direction he's planning to go in the next year.

While last years 'Ach So' showed a psychedelic, very delicate Oriental approach to music making this one goes for something less esoteric, even featuring jazzish chords and a few vocals on some tracks, but turns them inside out, 'Villalobos style', creating strange musical puzzles and odd shapes that work both for home listening and for twisting the dancefloor.

On this one standouts are 'What's wrong with my friends' which almost sounds like a Robert Owens track but twisted and bent into strange degraded shapes, and Africolaps which does some crazy stuff with an African sounding Polyrhythms.

There is more emphasis on twisting the rhythms here, which might be a result of his noted interest in dubstep, but might just be what minimal or whatever you call it is needing too. Once again this is pioneering stuff.
