The Mubashira Mataali Group hail from Uganda. Led by musician and actor Sulaiman Sulait, this twenty-five-piece choir sing songs - often with a strong Islamic message - accompanied by mataali drum playing. The massed voices and polyrhythmic whirl of the percussion makes for a strong mix, one that will work just as well in the disco as it will on a home stereo. Hunee and Gilles Peterson are known fans of this excellent Blip Discs edition.
