Like saturnine beings overseeing the creation of worlds, African Ghost Valley — aka Canadian duo Childé Grangier and Gabriel Ghebrezghi — forge haunting landscapes from the broken shards of what came before. Limited to 100 copies, the two tracks of Titans finds the duo at their most affecting. ‘Titans’ and b-side ‘Fairark’ take the form of auditory vignettes, scenarios under thunderous skies — which sound like an electrified likembé twisted out of shape by an avalanche of filters, tumbling from above over plaintive hammond phrases.
