Jeremy Labelle returns to Infiné (Carl Craig, Rone) with his most ambitious project yet. New LP Orchestre-Univers saw Labelle composing music for the Orchestra Regional of his native Reunion Island. These recordings are taken from four concerts given on Reunion. They blend Western classical influences with the maloya style that Labelle has frequently used as a route into investigating his Reunion identity. Anyone who enjoyed Henrik Schwarz’s recent work with the Metropole Orkest should turn their attention to Orchestra-Univers.
