The second LP from Kornél Kovács is a love-letter to his hometown. Stockholm Marathon sees Kovács serving up a set of shuffling house and tech-house tunes that are inspired both by the Swedish capital’s nightlife and also the musical community in the city. Niclas Skagstedt, Matt Karmil and Rebecca & Fiona all contribute here, each of them augmenting Kovács’ bubbly club tunes. Many of the tracks stick to the Studio Barnhus blueprint - ‘Marathon’ and ‘Szombat’ could easily pass for Kovács’ fellow Barnhus boss Axel Boman - but others incorporate previously unheard influences. ‘Atlas Nights’, for instance, has a bit of an Afrobeats thing going on, while ‘Purple Skies’ is a pretty slice of half-time electronics that could even pass for Passion Pit.
