Brooklyn hero Octo Octa rocks up on Technicolour (Project Pablo, Umfang) with a new EP. For Lovers is one of the most apt titles you’ll come across on any record this year. This is a set of sensuous, bodily DJ tools designed to make partygoers fall in love (and the rest). Opener ‘I Need You’ swells from a languid, reverb-drenched muddle into a hot mess of breakbeats and house jacks. The thermostat goes even higher on ‘Bodies Meld Together’, a dreamy tune that appears to have been designed to perfectly fit its title. For Lovers closes out with ‘Loops For Healing’, another psychedelic bit of house that nods to Octo Octa’s early stint on 100% Silk.
