Scandinavian Star shines bright on new LP Solas. Arriving on Posh Isolation (Varg, Croatian Amor), Solas finds the one born Malthe Fischer coming through with a record of innovative electronics. Abrasive and glitching compositions such as ‘Santosh’ and ‘Candi’ bring to mind the points of Yves Tumor’s discography where the noise starts to take hold. The more beat-driven numbers are no less intense - ‘Alang’, for instance, grows from ghostly drones into a pummelling hard techno jam. Closing pair ‘SOLAS’ and ‘Regal V’ are mournfully beautiful ambient cuts.
