Revered by the likes of Thom Yorke, DJ and record producer Christoph de Babalon has made a quietly influential career out of a preoccupation with rave music’s negative; faded utopian possibilities as austere ambient soundscapes, peopled with the faint memories of euphoric drum breaks. Teyas is a chilling opera created with WIDT, AKA Warsaw siblings Antonina Nowacka and Bogumila Piotrowska, which, among other things, invites comparisons to Shoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire as viewed through the dark lens of industrial ambient.
