The Motion Ward label averages one release a year. They tend to be worth waiting for. The LA imprint’s fourth record comes courtesy of Japanese producer Ultrafog. How Those Fires Burned That Once Were is a record of uneasy ambiences. Though there is little to be found in the way of rhythm, the shifting sands of these tracks never allow the listener to settle. It brings to mind some midpoint between The Caretaker, Yves Tumor and Oval.
