Originally released in 1977, Croatian composer and multi-instrumentalist Dubravko Detoni’s pioneering Acezantez ensemble project slipped by woefully unnoticed outside certain European avant-garde circles. This LP’s twin heads ‘Kič-Varijacije’ and ‘Bajka’, rife with acoustic and electrical instrumentation, sonically invoke a petrified forest, teeming with human-like shapes, uncannily gifted with eerie speech. As reminiscent of Schoenberg as it is early Nurse With Wound, this masterpiece sounds as contemporary as any avant-garde noise album made today.
