Jerry Paper is the popular stage persona developed by L.A. based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Lucas Nathan. His latest single and first release since signing to the imprint Stones Throw comes in the form of tongue-in-cheek slacker track ‘Your Cocoon’. Co-produced by Badbadnotgood’s Matthew Tavares, the song is a funky synth outfit with hypnotic beats and a lo-fi vocal delivery, the artist’s adopted position a charismatic combination of slouchy, laidback tendencies and energetic, bright aesthetics. Paper explains that his persona is an experiment in shedding ego, hoping that by foregoing his own he will be encouraging audiences to break down their barriers. ‘Your Cocoon’ is a fun development of electro and funk grooves with daring flashes of lounge music featuring throughout - a chorus wrapped in harmonised, ethereal female vocals providing moments of lush sincerity.
