Mancunian duo AnD doing what they do best here aka turning out yet more wedges of downright evil industrial techno. In the long list of odes to their home city, it’s safe to say there will be few as abrasive as AnD003 opener ‘Manchester’, which is a relentless ululation of drums and whirling dervish synths. The EP is bookended by ‘Manchester’s spiritual twin ‘Transit’, another nightmarish masterpiece. In between these we get ‘Analogical’ and ‘Prophecy’, two relatively more restrained entries in the sense that they have decipherable melodies. Good and clean may not be words you’d use to describe AnD003, but fun is one you certainly would.
