The righteous (or should that be riotous?) Gnod return to Rocket Recordings (Goat, Oneida) for another furious dispatch. Born on the lengthy tour the band went on in support of 2017’s Just Say No The Psycho Right-Wing Capitalist Fascist Industrial Death Machine, Chapel Perilous sees the band going even further into the noisy murk of their sound. That means Chapel Perilous is flooded with screaming distortion and wailing feedback, be the track a pounding doom-Kraut opus (‘Donovan’s Daughters’) or a portentous stomp ala Forest Swords (‘Voice From Nowhere’). Closer ‘Uncle Frank Says Turn It Down’ might be the loudest thing Gnod have ever recorded, and that’s saying something.
