Jóhann Jóhannsson's debut album Englabörn gets posthumously remastered for this deluxe reissue with an extra disc featuring new versions recorded by Ryuichi Sakamoto, A Winged Victory for the Sullen and more...
This reissue was finished shortly before his untimely passing on February 9th, listening to it again now after all these years, it still possesses a power that makes the hairs on our neck stand on end. Englabörn is an incredibly luxurious yet unmistakably powerful suite of music. It is also an achingly sad experience to listen back to it now given the tragic event surrounding this reissue, yet let it not be lost that it is also a testament to the skill, talent and musicianship that made Jóhann Jóhannsson one of the greatest composers of his generation.
