The second release on Julio Bashmore and T. WIlliams’s Conch imprint sees the pair wandering further into the nether-zone between UK Funky, jacking house and soundsystem techno. CONCH 002 is slightly more reserved than its predecessor - the brassy leadlines of ‘1302’, for instance, are nowhere to be found here. Instead it appears that the duo are starting to take more risks as they get more comfortable with this new project. ‘Worm’ is a trippy cut that sees an acid bassline spiral away over a sluggish two-step. ‘EC’ recalls DJ Mujava’s definitive ‘Township Funk’, while ‘1303’ has the worlds of Lil Silva, Pinch and Ben Klock colliding to delightful effect.
