UK Garage figurehead Wookie (he's produced for Dynamite MC, Soul II Soul, Doom Man and many more in the past) releases two tracks from his archives digitally on his own ManChu Recordings. Both are no-nonsense tracks made from squelchy floor-filling beats and blips. 'Spider' snaps and crackles along on taut, funk bass and sharply clattering percussion underpinned by contrastingly sumptuous pads. It's heavy, but also infectiously playful. 'Brazil' is similar in feel, rattling beats and a burrowing, insistent bass-line drenched in almost whimsical keys and muted, yelping vocal samples.
