Oliver Ho’s Death & Leisure imprint pull no punches on this split single. Karl O’Connor, who you may know better as serial techno upstart Regis, unites with Minimal Wave boss Veronica Vasicka to form Kiss the Floor, and their A-side is an uncompromising beast. Echoing Suicide and the heftier end of Bjork (think ‘Declare Independence’ rather than ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’), ‘This Desire’ is synth-wave at its most dead-eyed. On the flip, O’Connor tightens the screws on a track that has been knocking about since Silent Servant’s 2012 FACT mix. ‘Same Day (Again)’ is a motorik slice of synth-punk that is as chastening as it is invigorating.
